Bachelor of Science in Applied Agricultural Extension The programme produce competent, responsible and innovative strategic agricultural extension professionals and managers who will work at as extension agents, managers, administrators of agricultural extension systems, sub-systems, schemes and programmes designed to respond to the agricultural extension demands. The graduates are adult educators/trainers, organizers, facilitators, mediators, social engineers, counsellors and consultants capable of meeting the demands of the present and future

Graduates from the program will have multiple roles such as adult educators/trainers, organizers facilitators, mediators Social engineers, counselors and consultants, the programme is geared towards producing highly qualified professional agricultural Extension Agents who are endowed with both theoretical and practical perspectives and capable of meeting the demands of the present and future


2. Graduates in this programme will fit in various employment opportunities government, private sector institutions including Non-Governmental Organizations involved in extension/development work.
   You will inevitably be able to translate scientific concept into language that farmers understand.

Agricultural extension (also known as agricultural advisory services) plays a crucial role in boosting agricultural productivity, increasing food security, improving rural livelihoods, and promoting agriculture as an engine of pro-poor economic growth. Extension provides a critical support service for rural producers meeting the new challenges confronting agriculture: transformation in the global food and agricultural system, including the rise of supermarkets and the growing importance of standards, labels, and food safety; growth in nonfarm rural employment and agribusiness; constraints imposed by HIV/AIDS and other health challenges that affect rural livelihoods; and the deterioration of the natural resource base and climate change.

Job Opportunities

Job opportunities for graduates of agricultural extension exist in both the public and private sector such as State and Federal Ministries of Agriculture, agricultural and commercial banks, private agricultural companies, research institutes, faculties of agriculture, schools of agriculture, river basin development authority and agricultural development projects. In addition, graduates of Agricultural Extension may become self-employed as farmers, consultants, agro-input dealers, etc. or work with non-governmental organizations.
