The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania is in the process of conducting a Census of Population and Housing which will be held on 23 August 2022. as outlined in this announcement.

  1. Census Clerk jobs





  • Tasks to Do



  1. An applicant for this position, if elected will be required to attend the training of clerks where after training if successful he will be required to return to the place of origin or be assigned to any other place for the performance of the following duties: -

  3. Collaborate with the supervisor and the leadership of the area to identify whether in the census area there are special groups that need to be counted in a specific order different from ordinary households;

  5. To calculate all persons sleeping within the boundaries of the census area on the eve of Census Day within the stipulated time;

  6. Posting in the system the work done and completed daily at NBS / OCGS Headquarters;

  7. To use all Census materials and documents in accordance with the intended objectives; maintain them and submit them to the Supervisor after the work is completed;

  8. Reporting to the Census Supervisor on the challenges of implementing census responsibilities;

  9. To calculate all buildings in the area within the allotted time;

  10. Register all residential addresses in the respective area within the time frame set by

  11. To perform such other functions as the Census shall be assigned by its Leader.



  •  Qualifications of the Applicant


An applicant for this position must have the following qualifications: -

  1. Be between the ages of 18 and 45 and in good health;

  2. Must have a Form Four or higher education;

  3. Be it a public servant or a private sector or any unemployed person living in the area;

  4. Have experience in using smart phones;

  5. Must not have been convicted of any criminal offense; and

  6. Having a degree in statistics, planning, economics, or a certificate of official data collection or experience in performing statistical tasks is an additional qualification.


 2. Census Administrator


2.1 CONTENT SUPERVISOR



  • Tasks to Do


Applicants for this position, if elected, will be required to attend a Census Supervisor training, after which if successful they will be required to attend a Census clerk training and then return to their place of origin or be assigned any other place to perform the following duties: -

  1. Ensuring that every Census clerk identifies the census area;

  2.  Ensuring that each clerk has the necessary equipment as listed in the "Census Clerk's Guide".

  3. Ensuring that clerks understand the work and their schedules are well prepared and follow them;

  4. Ensure that the community questionnaire at the Kitongoji / Mtaa / Shehia level is fully interviewed by the relevant clerk within three days before the census day;

  5. Collaborate with local authorities to identify whether in the census area there are special groups that need to be counted in a specific order different from ordinary households;

  6. Allocate households to each clerk according to the prescribed procedure if one census area will have more than one clerk and ensure all households in the area are counted and counted only once;

  7. Ensuring that all persons sleeping within the boundaries of the census area on the eve of Census Day are counted;

  8. Ensuring that every building in the Suburb / Census area is reached and counted after the main Census exercise based on the areas where the Census Clerk was allocated during the census exercise;

  9. Ensure that all residential addresses in the Suburb / Counting Area are registered;

  10.  Ensuring that he communicates with the clerks regularly, and evaluates their performance and, where necessary, provides additional guidance;

  11. Consult with various leaders and higher authorities if there are challenges that require decisions at that level;

  12. To inspect and ensure that the Census clerk has sent his work to the NBS / OCGS headquarters in accordance with the prescribed procedure;

  13. Using various forms of material control and conduct of the Census exercise in general; and

  14.  To perform such other functions as the Census shall be assigned by its Leader.

2.2 IT SUPERVISOR

Applicants for this position, if elected, will be required to attend a Census Supervisor training, after which if successful they will be required to attend a Census clerk training and then return to their place of origin or be assigned any other place to perform the following duties: -

  1. To ensure that every clerk has a system with a population and Housing Census information collection system for 2022, the Housing Address Information Collection System operates effectively;

  2. Ensuring that every clerk has a power bank, charger and other ICT equipment as listed in the "Census Clerk Guide" and they work effectively;

  3. Ensuring that he or she communicates regularly with clerks on ICT issues, and evaluates their operational performance using schemes and, where necessary, provides additional guidance;

  4. Resolve all ICT challenges that may arise during the census exercise, Real Estate Census and Residential Address Census;

  5. Provide technical assistance to ensure that the Census clerk sends the completed work to headquarters on time and ensures that the work is received; and

  6. To perform other ICT-related functions of the Census to be assigned by its Leader.



  • Qualifications of the Applicant
    An applicant for this position must have the following qualifications: -



  1. Be between the ages of 18 and 45 and in good health;

  2. Must have a Form Four or higher education;

  3. Must have ICT education at least diploma level (Diploma);

  4. Be it a public servant or a private sector or any unemployed person living in the area;

  5. Have experience in using smart phones;

  6. Must not have been convicted of any criminal offense; and

  7. Having experience of statistical functions using electronic technology is an additional feature.
